About The Artist

My artistic adventure began at the young age of 9, when I was gifted an old hand-me-down Kodak Box Brownie camera with a tattered blue ribbon for a strap. My class was going on a field trip to the San Diego Zoo and it seemed like all the other kids had those new-fangled Kodak instamatic jobs. It was so embarrassing I'd try to keep it hidden under my sweater vest!

But when the photos came back that embarrassment disappeared. I had discovered the power of capturing a moment in time that will never occur again.

A few years later my passion to photograph was kicked up a significant notch when my parents took us to the Grand Canyon and Yosemite National Park. I had discovered the photography of Ansel Adams at an early age, and when I saw his work come alive right in front of me I knew I had found my place in the world. To this day, Yosemite is still the place I go to get my "inner compass" recalibrated.

It wasn't until much later in life that I discovered painting. In 2018 I was watching Paint This With Jerry Yarnell on PBS. I remember it was the Frosty the Snowman painting series. He does so well at breaking down the steps to paint that I decided I was going to do that. And a new way to express myself was born!
